Research: How creative and business decisions are made for expensive, collaborative media like television and how this is complicated by cross-cultural considerations. James is also a 2014 Visiting Scholar for the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Creative practice: Television writer, showrunner and executive producer. James is currently producing an animated pilot Bob! the Slob for the Teletoon network with the support of the Bell Media Fund.

Authorship: Writing and producing credits for 225 hours of TV include for the comedy Family Biz, drama series’ Psi Factor, Outer Limits and Heartland, and for the documentary series Women on Top and other reality and animated series.

Accolades: Nominated for four Gemini awards. Winner of the Gemini for Outstanding Television Drama (1997) and Dean’s Teaching and Dean’s Service Awards, Ryerson University (2011, 2014).
